What to Bring?

Please make sure you have your Angkor Pass as it is strictly no access to any temples without it. Second, Lots of water because you need to be prepared for lots of walking and sweating. To all of the ladies, Sun Screen with high SPF value is a must. Of course you could bring some changing Outfit as you will sweat like crazy. The restrooms are really clean! Lastly, grab some snacks into your bag. Please do not simply litter in the temple.

Tuk-Tuk driver – Mr Hen (Angkor Taxi Hen)

If you need to preplan your journey, make sure to plan your driver first! For my whole Siem Reap itinerary, I had requested Mr Hen to be my Tuk-tuk driver for 2 days. He was recommended by my close friend as she said he is really reliable and sincere in his service. My total ride for 2 days include Prasat Banteay Srei (DAY 2) & Beng Mealea (DAY 3) was 78USD (2018 Price).

For those who already bought their Angkor Pass, make sure you tell your tuk-tuk driver, or else they wil set their own priority to send you to the Ticket Counter first. Without Angkor Pass, you are unable to access any temples.

2020 Updates – Mr Hen finally got his own car for better service! Isn’t that amazing! Please visit his website ” http://www.cambodiasiemreapangkortaxi.com/ ” for more pricing detail and contact! Please mentioned that you was recommended by this blog to spread some love!

Shah Srang – Sunrise

They say they wanted to experience The golden rays of the sun that gives a bright colour to the clouds. Well, mine was a purple tint onto the sky and the sun was covered by thick clouds. I was there at 6.30am just to give myself a chance to witness a good sunrise, however, the sunrise for my day wasn’t great.

If you are wondering what’s more to see at the Shah Srang… You get to see a pool of water and a old deck with all these patterned rocks. All these sculptures are similar as in Angkor Wat.

Banteay Kdei Temple

Right behind the Shah Srang, literally 20 steps away, there is a gate to enter Banteay Kdei Temple. However, it was closed while I was there, maybe I was too early for the temple visit. You can take pictures of the gates because you could see a face there! This is our first bonus Temple that is out from my itinerary.

Prasat Banteay Srei (Pink Temple)

They called it the Pink temple because the colour payoff in photos are pink in colour! According to my research, many people actually claimed that it’s worth the visit. Some said they loved the carvings with small details, some said they like it because the colour of the temple. I agree that the colour is different from other temples, however for the size of the temple overall is just to small to explore.

The distance from Angkor Wat to here would need at least 30 minutes by tuk-tuk. I personally felt that it’s just too far. Before heading here, please bring you own breakfast instead depending the Tuk-tuk driver to search food for you. Tourist spots usually would charge higher than the town. 5USD per meal and lower should be your budget for a meal. On the bright side, I manage to get one of the best Tuk-Tuk driver which was recommended by my friend. He was very sincere in our whole journey.

Banteay Samre

We did not include this temple in our itinerary, but was recommended by our tuk-tuk driver because it was on the way back to our next destination. This is one big temple, guarded by their thick rock walls. Samre Temple may be similar to all the temples in Bayon area, but for me I felt that this is bigger than all the temples present in Bayon Temples area.

After Banteay Samre, please head back to the town area for food! Eating in these nearby tourist spots are actually expensive – 7.5USD per meal. Town price will be maintained about 5USD per meal or lower. Make sure to request to head back to the town, instead of just stating I want lunch. Tuk-Tuk drivers are able and should send you back according to your request.

Ta Prohm – Tomb Raider Temple Scene

If you are into Tomb Raider movie by Angelina Jolie, you probably would want to visit Ta Prohm Temple for the crazy big trees and filled with greens! Do you know that Ta Prohm is the backdrop of the Tomb Raider Movie starring by Angelina Jolie?

The trees here are huge and there’s actually quite a lot of those. You could compare the size by looking at my photos, the trunks are just, crazy. Presence of trees makes this temple a cooling one! For your information, temple here is actually smaller than Banteay Samre, but the crowd can be multiple 5. The Angkor Area (includingTa Prohm) is a major tourist spot.

Angkot Wat

Angkor Wat is really beautiful. It’s different from all other temples that I visited in this day. Fun things to do were (1) You can go up to a higher floor to have a good view. (2) you are able to get great shots of one of the towers. (3)The entrance was amazing by crossing that huge river that is surrounding the temple.

We made our way up to the third floor for better view. The area is only limited to 80 people, so queuing is expected. However, I prefer lower floors as the top floor area is slightly small. It’s really big in here and I was really exhausted by walking too much for today. So, this will be my last temple for my visit.

I will skip sunset because I am very tired for the sunrise this morning. Time to head back for a good shower, good skincare (Siem Reap is very dusty) and a good nap!

Dinner & Cocktail – Pub street

We did not plan too much in our meal in our trip. Also, there is less options for fancy meal in Siem Reap. Hence we decided to come back to Pub Street again for dinner. If you really need to know what I had for this day, I actually tried Happy Pizza that I think it’s just homemade style pizza. I do not feel any punch of happiness but from the nap that I had after exploring many temples.
