Bus Hopping Guide in Taipei

Travel | Taipei Public Bus Guide

Before I start throwing guide about Bus Hopping, I just want to inform that no one actually recommend me to try bus hopping, I don’t think anyone would spend a day heading to nowhere or unknown places. Because it waste time and a dumb dumb idea to do so. Its pretty easy to travel around Taipei by public transportation when you have the EasyCard (悠遊卡) with you. For your Information, Malaysian can get their free EasyCard preloaded with NT50 from Taiwan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Let me show you. The Taipei Public Bus. Well equipped with handles, seats, luggage bag racks, mirror, bell (to alert the driver to stop), lighting and its air conditioned.

What you need to know before you start your bus hopping game:

1. Check Google Map

Google map does tell you which bus will be reaching soon with timing and Estimated Time arrival. You can also see the full schedule of the routes in google map too.

2. Ask how do you pay for the bus fare.

There are few different public buses companies in Taipei. Some requires you to scan your Easy-Card first before you enter, some is scan when you reach your destination, or scan when you enter and leave the bus. I am not sure about this, but it would be better if you ask the driver politely.

Is Taipei Bus safe?

Very Safe! No drifting and/or sudden brake experience in the bus. If you were caught in sexual harassment or pink pocket, there’s an alarm for you. You’ll be pretty safe in the bus. People would save you too.

End Note

Overall, It’s a good experience. It’s pretty fun to try this out with the help of Google so you wouldn’t get lost. I actually never tried bus hopping in my own country. Hopefully I get to try out in Malaysia and not getting lost in anywhere.
